Hawdon Hut tramp 14 & 15 October 2018

The weather had been poor but we decided to go tramping anyway. And it was fabulous!

The level of the Hawdon River had dropped so that we could cross it very easily, the weather was fine and we were the only people in the hut!

On the Sunday afternoon we toddled up to Walker Pass where the scenery could be described by only one word: stunning!  Blue skies, snow on the surrounding mountains, clear water in the tarns.

Other words used were “we are nearly there”, we are nearly there” and “we are nearly there”……. There also the small matter of the faceplant in the tussock.

Monday meant an easy tramp out to the vehicle at Hawdon Shelter.
